For the first time in Scotland, a 3 year program offering a young person unprecedented training in the day to day management of a five-star concierge department. The successful applicant for this position will receive ongoing and personal mentoring from Alan Grimes, the award winning Head Concierge at the hotel. The Concierge Apprenticeship will be open to all 18 to 24 year olds with a serious interest in pursuing hospitality as a career.
He or she will also gain experience in a range of hotel operational areas to assist them in understanding the integral part the concierge plays in a modern 5 Star hotel, the overall aims for the apprenticeship will be:
To develop the necessary skills to be an international 5 Star Concierge and to ultimately be confident and able to manage the department.
To experience hotel operations in all Front of House departments and Housekeeping.
To achieve a Modern Apprenticeship qualification
To achieve a range of statutory and industry recognised qualifications
To develop curiosity and self-led learning of the Concierge profession
To develop life and work skills, demonstrating professional behaviour in a range of contexts
The programme will be delivered over three years resulting in a SVQ at Level 2 by end of year 2 with an opportunity to progress to level 3 in year 3.
What is a Concierge?
By definition, the concierge is the hotel employee entrusted with all the specialised needs of the guest; At Cameron House these commonly include, making travel arrangements, organising specialised guest itineraries and ensuring the team continue to offer our famous 5 Star welcome. The duties of the concierge however, often exceed definition or description. Concierges are expected to achieve the impossible, to fulfill any request with efficiency, speed, discretion and creativity. It is these qualities which makes the concierge profession synonymous with service excellence.
Essential elements for applicants are:-
An effervescent and charming “people person”
A genuine desire to work at the cutting edge of hotel operations
Strong organisational skills
The ability to (learn to) think under pressure and to deal well with stress
Tenacity and resilience
To be creative and curious
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, numerical skills
A strong work ethic
A clean driving license
