150 YEARS AFTER HER DEATH IN 1866, THE WIDOW CLICQUOT SPIRIT LIVES ON AS SHE RETURNS ON HALLOWEEN TO SETTLE UNFINISHED BUSINESS…
Halloween or Hallow’s Eve,by definition, is the night to remember and pay homage to those departed. On this occasion, we celebrate the incredible life and mysterious series of events that shaped the life of Madame Clicquot. Veuve Clicquot invites you to come and pay homage to the revolutionary founder of the house, Madame Clicquot, who was famously widowed in October 1805, aged only 27.
She went on to become known as the ‘Widow Clicquot’, or in french “Veuve Clicquot”. A trailblazer of her time, she single-handedly took on her late husband’s champagne business, and went on to pioneer several
industry innovations that would transform the way we enjoy champagne today. Not only did she create the first vintage champagne in 1910, and produce the first rosé champagne blend, she also transformed cloudy wine to produce crystal clear champagne. These techniques were shrouded in secrecy and hidden from her competitors for years to come.
By the time she died in 1866, Veuve Clicquot had become both the champagne house and globally respected icon we all know and love today. And we owe it all to one formidable woman, Madame Clicquot.
What better way to honour the Widow’s presence and legacy than by immortalising her forever with a toast of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label this Halloween.
