Winter means hot chocolates, ice-skating and snowball fights. Keeping your skin looking and feeling healthy during the winter months can be challenging. While there is nothing quite like a trip to The Spa to ensure you are winter ready, we share our top tips for glowing winter skin so that you can continue the spa experience at home and feel relaxed and rejuvenated from head to toe.
- Nourish and Replenish
As the winter months are about to come upon us, its important that we replenish the nourishment lost due to the drying central heating and the harsh weather we subject our skin to. We suggest to apply a hydrating mask once or twice weekly to combat the drying effects of the winter months.
Why not try the ESPA overnight hydration therapy. An intensely hydrating overnight treatment mask to leave the complexion replenished and radiant. Chicory Root Extract helps to reinforce the skin's natural barrier function, while Konjac Root and Hyaluronic Acid hydrate and smooth. A pure blend including Cedarwood, Ylang Ylang and Lavandin Essential Oils help calm a busy mind while Encapsulated Lavender gently releases its soothing and restful properties as your head hits the pillow.
Apply a layer all over the face and d?collet? in circular motions before going to bed. The encapsulated lavender will help you relax and promote a good nights sleep whilst the mask does all the work for you whilst you sleep. No need to remove in the morning, the mask will have soaked in over night to reveal wonderfully nourished and hydrated skin.

2. Body Massage
The colder months can make our bodies feel lethargic and lacking energy. Why not try a full body massage to invigorate and stimulate the muscles. A hot stone massage can be warming on a colder day and is great for removing tension and is also excellent to help promote sleep when combined with a relaxing aromatherapy oil

3. Hair care
Our hair can become sun damaged and dry over the winter months and with the colder days approaching its easy to forget about your hair and scalp. We recommend using the ESPA pink hair and scalp mud. An intensive mineral-rich treatment mask that deeply conditions, to leave hair soft and smooth, and the scalp nourished. Vitamin C rich Watercress and Red Clay soothe and nourish the scalp, while Apricot Kernel Oil conditions to help promote stronger, healthy looking, manageable hair. The product is suitable for all hair types, especially dry or weak hair. As an insider tip - it can also be used to soften and nourish dry skin on the body and has been known to help and comfort those with dry skin conditions such as eczema and Psoriasis.

4. Apply Sunscreen
No, sunscreen isn't just for the summer time. Winter sun combined with snow glare and the harsh cold weather can still damage your skin. Try ESPA Optimal Skin Pro defence in SPF 15. Its an every day UV and environmental skin protector. Pioneering daily UV sun protector with SPF 15 that creates an ultra-light skin shield and helps provide protection from environmental damage. Golden Seaweed, Knotgrass and Chicory Root Extracts help provide protection from environmental exposure and hydrates skin, restoring its natural strength. Apply daily to the face and d?collet? using 1-2 pumps on top of your usual moisturiser. Allow a few moments before applying any makeup.

5. Add a Sun-kissed Glow
Choosing a self-tanner over sunbathing or sunbeds is the safest way to get a natural looking tan even in the winter. Once your skin is thoroughly exfoliated and hydrated, you may want to add a little tan to your new-found glow. There are plenty of build-able tanning lotions available for the face and body that will give you that sun-kissed look even on the greyest days. ESPA self-tanning range use natural ingredients that deeply moisturise and deliver the safest way to a year round glow. For best results apply in natural light with a mitt or glove.
