Getting to Cameron House on Loch Lomond
Driving to Cameron House is easier than you’d think – and taking in the scenery en route is just part of the experience. But for those who can’t travel by car, there are a myriad of options for travelling to and from Cameron House Resort, all with gorgeous scenery too! From Glasgow, Edinburgh, or anywhere in between, take a look at our advice for a smooth, picturesque trip to the resort.
From Glasgow
Trains offer the most convenient mode of transport to Cameron House when travelling from Glasgow. Take the ScotRail train from Glasgow Queen Street to Balloch Station. The trains are regular throughout the day and take approximately 50 minutes. Cameron House is about a mile (approximately a 20-minute walk) away from Balloch Station.
For those with luggage, a 5-minute taxi ride from the station will bring you directly to our resort entrance. A transfer by taxi can be arranged by the hotel in advance, otherwise there are local firms located at the station.
From Edinburgh
Getting here from Edinburgh is just a straightforward transfer through Glasgow. Take a train from Edinburgh Waverley or Haymarket to Glasgow Queen Street (50–70 minutes). From there, go the same way as above to Balloch.

By Coach or Bus
Citylink and other major coach operators serve Glasgow from Buchanan Bus Station, where there is interchange with the train to Balloch. Some Citylink services terminate at Duck Bay or Balloch, both of which are close to Cameron House. Be sure to verify the schedule in advance.
Hotel Transfers and Taxis
Cameron House private transfer services can be pre-booked with the Concierge Team and are ideal for those who are arriving at Glasgow Airport or Balloch Train Station. Taxis are accessible in the vicinity of Balloch, and a member of our helpful Reception Team can facilitate pickup or returns.

On Foot or by Bicycle
If you are arriving by bicycle or foot, access to the resort by Loch Lomond cycle and footpaths is possible for those who are coming through Balloch and surrounding villages. Bicycle storage with security is available at Cameron House.
Luggage Assistance
For those arriving without transport, there is no need to worry about suitcases. Porters are available at Cameron House to relieve you of bags on arrival. The resort recommends that those who walk in off Balloch call ahead so a porter or transfer can be arranged to pick you up.

Boat Trips Around Loch Lomond

There are also some boat tours and cruises that depart from Balloch Pier, just a short walk from the hotel. Enjoy animal-spotting tours, or historic guided tours. Tickets can be bought at the pier or in advance online, and some boats even offer refreshments onboard. Popular cruise operators are Cruise Loch Lomond and Sweeney’s Cruises and they both offer round-trip trips from Balloch and stunning scenery over surrounding hills and islands.

Cycle Paths
For those looking for a more adventurous way to take in the sights there are a number of routes that can be reached by bike. For an easy and flat trail the West Loch Lomond Cycle Path of 25km starts in Balloch and finishes in Luss. Explore a number of mountain biking trails, including the Old Military Road. One route from Tarbert uses the waterbus service to cross Loch Lomond to Inversnaid from where you can cycle along Loch Arklet for 6.2km to Stronachlachar pier.
